Everyday...........

Seventeen years of wedded bliss adventure. Not that our union hasn't had its moments of supreme happiness, but it's really been more like having a seat on an eternal amusement park ride.

The waiting in line part is sort of like the engagement period. All that waiting while hearing the thrilled screams of the other passengers - it must be great right? You get on and there's that first big hill you slowly climb up. You cannot see anything but sky as you hold on tightly to each other; the first plunge comes, and there is a dizzying thrill as your stomach ends up in your throat.

The only way I can describe it is that there are fast and slow parts of the ride - times when you are so wrapped up in the excitement and emotions of the ride that you can't think of anything else, times when you are so sick to your stomach that all you want to do is puke your guts out, times when you slow down, have chance to look in each other's eyes and catch your breath before the ride starts again.

Periodically, the ride stalls out and maintenance is required, or in the case that you have a child with a disability it can be like riding without a seatbelt, and you just cling to each other all the more - imagine that prospect. Some people can't take it, and they opt to get off. But not us - we've chosen to be passengers on that ride for seventeen years.

Honey, it's been a great ride! (Sending all kinds of mushiness your way).

I wanted to post a video of a rollercoaster ride, but do you know how impossible it is to find one without cursing?
