Bein' the tree - again

I worked on being positive last week, and it didn't go as well as I thought it should. I will continue on that, but a baby step that I think will help me is to remember to be flexible.

It is a realization that I came to earlier this week when it was a particularly stressful and exhausting day. Taking a cue from nature, I am going to focus on being more flexible (or rather, less uptight) and hopefully, that will reinforce my habit of being more positive.

Oooo, I think I feel it working already - some things I love, or that make me feel "positive"-

Laying in the grass, skywatching
weed therapy
the Cucumber Bandit, look out, she might leave you some-

These 3 together: breezy nights, sleeping with the windows open, white sheets

summer fruits
my gang
this guy
no seriously, this man
this dr.
this treat
listening to, but not watching this

I read something over at Ask Sister Mary Martha which is really helping me with positivity - it sounds trite, but it's working. It's like the old 'starving kids in Africa would love that food' comment. When Wombat is testing his boundaries (which is a LOT lately) I think about mums who have lost their children (I choose a different cause of loss each time) and suddenly it is easy to be patient with him... or if I feel like swearing about having to use an immersion heater to warm the bath water because we still haven't replaced the hot water system, suddenly I have an image of a woman carrying a jug on her head and walking kilometres for water that may not be too clean... It is so easy to get frustrated with our situation but we really do have so much to be thankful for... I'm finding it really can help to take a second to look at it through someone else's eyes... Good luck with your habits this week. (Sorry to be so long-winded)

Schelle - I think that might actually help me. It's easier to see the good relative to someone else's situation. thx

I try to remember something my mom told me, "you can't control your circumstances only how you respond to them", sometimes our response makes more of an impact than the actual situation. Good luck this week!

That bandit is too much! We have one in our neighborhood who just brought me a bunch of zucchini :)

EW - she would've been a zucchini bandit, but I don't let them get that big (so we don't have a surplus)

I am getting so much better at going with the flow in life but I still really need to work on being positive with the kids and stop being so critical. Somehow I got it into my head that I had to correct every single thing they do. Just stop it already, why don't I???
